Getting to Know Cory

Family First

I'm a proud father of three amazing kids — one son and two daughters — and they are the center of my world. My son is an engineer whose determination and focus continually impress me; watching him build his career has been one of my greatest joys. My daughters are equally remarkable, each with their own spark — one is artistic and creative, always dreaming big, while the other is curious and full of energy, constantly challenging me to see the world from new angles. They keep me grounded, focused, and remind me daily of what truly matters.

Family is the foundation of everything I do — their love and support fuel my ambition, and their happiness is what drives me to keep pushing forward, both personally and professionally. No matter how busy life gets, I always make time for them. Whether it's a quiet dinner at home, helping with a project, or just talking through life’s ups and downs, being present in their lives is the most important role I’ll ever have.

My Past

Outside of the office, a big part of my journey has been shaped by competitive athletics. I earned my second-degree black belt in Taekwondo and proudly brought home a gold medal at Nationals — an achievement that still stands as one of my proudest moments. Years of training, discipline, and competition not only pushed me physically but built the mental toughness and focus I carry into every part of my life.

In addition to martial arts, I spent five seasons playing in Halifax’s senior football league — a time filled with unforgettable moments, tight-knit camaraderie, and plenty of hard hits. That experience opened the door for me to pursue an opportunity to try out for professional football in British Columbia, a dream few get the chance to chase. These experiences taught me more than just physical skill — they reinforced the values of resilience, teamwork, and showing up when it counts. Whether in the ring, on the field, or in the boardroom, those lessons still fuel my drive today.

Tech 1.0 — Always Building

Tech isn’t just a career for me — it’s something I’ve been drawn to for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and putting them back together better than before. Whether it’s rebuilding a PC, optimizing a network, or helping someone recover a lost file, there’s something deeply satisfying about solving problems with technology and making things work when they didn’t before.

Over the years, I’ve run a small home-based business that helped people in my community with everything from hardware repairs to home network setups. I’ve supported small businesses making tech decisions they couldn’t afford to get wrong, and I’ve helped neighbors stay connected when their systems went down. It’s kept me grounded and sharp — a reminder that behind every technical issue is a real person who just needs things to work. That connection between people and technology is what keeps me passionate about this field every single day.

Life Outside the Screen

Whether it’s taking the kids out for a spontaneous lake day, experimenting with a new BBQ rub I probably spent way too long perfecting, or diving into the latest book on cybersecurity trends, I try to keep things grounded. Tech might be what I do for a living, but life happens in real time — and I do my best to be present for it. Time away from the screen is just as important as time on it. Balance isn’t just a buzzword; it’s how I stay sharp, focused, and human.

When I’m not troubleshooting networks or exploring the latest digital tools, I’m soaking up quality time with family, tinkering in the garage, or finding new ways to stay curious about the world. I’ve learned that some of the best insights don’t come from a glowing monitor — they come from listening, observing, and stepping back once in a while. Whether it’s a smoke-filled backyard cookout or a quiet afternoon with a paperback and a cold drink, I believe that life outside the screen is where the good stuff happens.
